Steban M. Vela went to be with the Lord Thursday, August 17, 2023 at the age of 95. He was born in Jourdanton, Texas on June 16, 1928 to father Maximo Vela and mother Helena Rivera. Steban was a member of the Masonic lodge for over 50 years, along with the Eastern Star lodge #1115 and the Shriners. Steban served his country in both the U.S Army and U.S Navy reserves as a Seabee.

Steban is survived by his wife of 71 years; Hilda Q. Vela. His children; Patricia Vela Mireles, Ricardo Vela and wife Ida, Raquel Vela. Along with 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.  Steban is preceded in death by his son; Steban Vela Jr. and grandson; Maximo Vela.
