Roberto R.
Gutierrez
Aug 22, 1944 — Dec 28, 2020
San Antonio
The Reverend Roberto R. Gutierrez went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 28, 2020 at the age of 76 years. He was the Pastor of Westlawn Baptist Church, where he served for over 24 years. He is predeceased by his grandson, SFC Javier Jaguar Gutierrez, U.S. Army Special Forces, Green Beret, who is survived by his wife Gabriela Gutierrez. Roberto is survived by Amadita Gutierrez, his loving wife of 57 years. He will always be remembered, loved and missed by his children: Robert Gutierrez Jr. with his wife Imee, Javier Gutierrez with his wife Sylvia, Ernest Gutierrez and Louis Gutierrez. Roberto's surviving brothers include Roque Gutierrez with his wife Lisa, Jimmy Gutierrez and Alejandro Gutierrez. His dear grandchildren and great grandchildren include Jenea, Jordan, Josiah, Noah, Gabriel, Eden, Helen, Emee and Levi. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. To say that Pastor Gutierrez was a great man doesn't quite convey his extraordinary life. Roberto was fun-loving, kind and humble—a deeply spiritual man. He practiced simplicity till his last breath. He was a fiercely loving and devoted husband; an unapologetic follower of Jesus Christ; a fervent evangelist for the gospel; a faithful Pastor and expositor of the Word; and a fantastic dad and grandad. Words are insufficient in our efforts to describe Roberto because he was far greater than the sum of his parts. Visitation will be held at Southside Funeral Home on Friday, January 8th from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Prayer Service to be held at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will depart the funeral home on Saturday, January 9th at 9:15 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. Graveside Service to be held at Mission Burial Park South.
