Manuela Elva Castro went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 22, 2018 at the age of 83 years. Manuela loved playing bingo, gardening and she loved making tamales and empanadas for her family and friends every year. Manuela was preceded in death by her husband, Juan T. Castro; son, Ralph V. Mireles; sisters, Maria Magdalena Mireles and Fidensia Alicia Lopes; brother Jose Santos Velasquez; parents Uvaldo Velasquez and Guadalupe Santos Chaves Gonzalez.  She is survived by her daughters, Sonia Morales, Leonor Castro Gonzales; sisters, Maria De La Luz Velasquez Garza, Idalia Margarita Velasquez Camacho, Eulodia G. Gonzalezz, Hilda V. Gonzales; brother, Jose Chavez Velasquez; Grandchildren six; Great-Grandchildren nine. She was considered Abuela to everyone who knew and loved her. Visitation will be held at Southside Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 27th from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 28th for a 11:00 a.m. mass to be celebrated at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church Interment will follow in Mission San Jose Community Cemetery.
