Obituary

After 88 years, 3months and 2 days our mother and grandmother, June R. Cedotal completed her long journey on this Earth. June was the fifth of six children born to Carlyle Payne Remmey and Rose Anna DeSalme. She was born on June 1, 1925 in Memphis, Tennessee. At around the age of eight years her mother moved back home to San Antonio, Texas with her three surviving siblings. As a youth she attended Nathanial Hawthorne Junior High and Thomas Jefferson High School. Mom adored her mother, Rose. She was very close to her siblings; an older sister, Katherine and brother, Warren, as well as her younger sister, Susan, (All of whom have preceded her in death). As a young woman she fell in love with a pilot named Willie Voite, but their love was cut short by a tragic airplane crash. Mom met our dad, Alfred Theodore Kroening and later married him on March 5, 1946. They moved to Springfield, Minnesota where they bought a home and started a family. Out of that union came a son, Alfred Theodore (Ted) Kroening Jr. and a daughter, Susan Marie Kroening. Our parents' marriage ended after seventeen years. In the early 1960s she met and fell in love with Hayward Joseph Cedotal. Together they produced a son, Donald William Cedotal. They were married on February 18, 1970. They remained together until Joe's passing on April 2, 2000. Throughout her life mom worked at several different jobs. She worked as a waitress at the Night Hawk on Main Avenue. She also worked at Universal Book Bindery, made fishing lures at PICO, worked behind the counter at Gibson's Bakery and for a short time she worked at K-Mart, (Where she won a car in a company contest). In her later years she worked in the bakery at H.E.B. food store. But for the most part she was a stay-at-home mom and grandma. She loved her grandchildren with all her heart. There was seldom a weekend that she didn't have them over to spend the night. She loved being with the grandkids. When she wasn't filling their tummies with comfort food, she'd pile them up in the car and drive all over town "paying the bills." They'd go to the ceramic shop and make ceramics, or go browsing at the thrift stores. Mom loved driving around in her Thunderbirds or her Isuzu Rodeo. After the grandkids got older mom and her younger sister, Susan would meet up and continue burning up gas while hanging out together. It was very difficult for mom when her knees became so weak that she started losing her ability to get around independently. Mom spent the last year and a half at Pecan Valley Retirement and Rehabilitation Center. The staff was very loving and kind and they did a good job attending to her needs. On Tuesday afternoon, September 3rd she ended her long journey. Throughout her time on Earth she touched many lives. She never met a stranger, but managed to find common ground with everyone she encountered throughout her life. She is survived by her loving biological children Ted Kroening, Susan Cullinan and Donnie Cedotal. Grandchildren include: Heather L. Jardine, Samara M. Balter, Aimee M. Cullinan, Nathaniel J. Cullinan, Evan T. Kroening, Matthew Cedotal, Catherine Lenberg, Jessica Cedotal. Great-grandchildren: Kieran Andrew Stotts, Aiden Lachlan Jardine Mitchell, Colton Lenberg and Houston Cedotal. During her marriage to Joe Cedotal mom also inherited step children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that she loved very much.
