Obituary

Joseph S. Solis, who was born on June 29, 1960, was called to be with our Lord on July 13, 2020. He was born in San Antonio, Texas, to Andres and Concepcion Solis. He was the second youngest of 11 children.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Andres Solis Sr., Concepcion Solis, and his sister, Adela Solis. Also by his father-in-law, Raul Fernandez. There are other family members eagerly awaiting his arrival.

Joseph is survived by loving and devoted wife of 42 years, Electa M. Solis (Dee Dee), his son, Joseph Solis, Jr. and daughter, Nora Solis (Chris Salazar). His four grandchildren, Genesis Solis, Isaiah Reyes, Lysette Solis, and Jeremiah Solis, they will also miss their Papo, very much.

His other surviving family members include his sisters, Eva Wise (Michael), Paula Toscano, Patricia Covarrubias (Armando), Estella Mireles, Amelia Moreno (Guero), his brothers, Andrew Solis, Jr. (MaryJane), Adam Solis (Diane), Jesse Solis (Edna), and Anthony S. Hernandez (Jina), along with his numerous nieces and nephews. He had many musician friends whom he also considered family.

Joseph was a musician from an early age, playing in many bands in his time, with his brothers and other family and friends. He attended Harlandale High School, in San Antonio, graduating in 1978. Shortly, after he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he proudly served for 8 years.

Joseph and Electa loved each other very much. They spent much of their time together going to play bingo and at local bars to hear live music from local bands. Usually, it was a band he was in.

When he wasn't playing music, he was working, Joseph was a hard worker. He worked as a maintenance man, for multiple apartment complexes, for over 30 years to provide for his family. When he had time off, he loved watching his favorite teams play. He was a true Spurs and Cowboys fan, win or lose. He didn't always have nice things to say when they weren't winning but he was still true to his teams. He also loved going to the beach to enjoy some good fishing with his friends and family.

The time he most enjoyed was the time he spent with his greatest loves; his wife, children and grandchildren. Joseph was always a family man first.

Our father was a great man with a heart of gold and a spirit to match. He was loved and respected by so many, even he could not imagine.

He was and is the best daddy anyone could ask for. We are thankful and grateful that we had the opportunity and honor to spend so many wonderful years with him. We are all so proud to be able to call him friend, cousin, uncle, brother, Papo, daddy and husband. He will be loved and missed, always.

We love you Daddy.
