Johnny Gonzales Martinez went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at the age of 84 years. He retired from the civil service at Kelly AFB. Johnny enjoyed gardening, watching the Spurs and Dallas Cowboys and other sports. He was preceded in death by his son, Richard John Martinez. Johnny is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Herminia "Minnie" Sanchez Martinez; daughter, Linda Martinez; sons, David A. Martinez and his wife Patricia and Daniel Ray Martinez and wife Armandina; sister, Gloria Federico and husband Ray; brothers, Rudy Martinez and Gilbert Martinez and wife Julie ;grandchildren, Richard J. Martinez, Jr., Erica J. Martinez, Crystal A. Martinez, and Yvette M. Munoz and husband Javier; great grandson, Jayden Anthony Cavazos; also numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Southside Funeral Home on Monday, May 19th from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20th . Interment will follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
