Obituary

Esperanza "Hopie" Gonzales went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at the age of 90.  She was a loving sister and aunt who enjoyed being surrounded by her family. Hopie retired from Solo Serve with over 50 years of service, she was dedicated to her work and never missed a day.  She will be remembered as a patient and loving caregiver and mother figure to over fifteen nephews and nieces she helped raise over the course of her life. She lived for many years with her niece Linda (Paul) and their children until her last days. Esperanza is preceded in death by her brother, Candelario Gonzales, Jr.; sister, Consuelo Rangel; and brother-in-law, Jesse Rangel. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Katy; nieces and nephews, Linda and Paul, Patty, Sandra, Barbara, Roy, Robert and Sarita and their children and grandchildren.  She will also be missed by her brethren at Emmanuel Baptist Church.  A visitation for Esperanza will be held on Friday, May 20, 2016 from 5:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. at Southside Funeral Home. A chapel service will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Southside Funeral Home followed by interment at Mission Burial Park South.
