Emily B. Hernandez went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the age of 70 years.  She was born in Columbus, Georgia on October 27, 1946 to Rudolph and Ethyl Gafford.  Emily enjoyed sewing, reading, crocheting, and playing darts.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Carl Gafford.  Emily is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Pete Hernandez; sons, Henry Hernandez and wife Rachelle Janush, Brian Hernandez; grandchildren, Gabriella and Izabella Janush-Hernandez; brother, Maurice Gafford and wife Loa.  Visitation will be held at Southside Funeral Home on Friday, March 31st from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 1st at 2:00 p.m at Southside Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will follow in Mission Burial Park South.
