Obituary

It is with a profound sense of loss that we announce the peaceful passing of Christine Angwin Mitchell, age 69, on December 18, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas.

Christine was born on August 18, 1955, in Arlington, Virginia. In 1960, she and her family relocated to Liverpool, England, her mother's hometown. Christine and her siblings loved spending their days making memories with their grandparents. Christine was the most mischievous of the three sisters, always finding herself in trouble. Janet, on the other hand, was the one who often had to step in and keep her on track. Both sisters enjoyed dancing at the local nightclubs. Christine was a very protective big sister. When Dawn was little some older boy had pushed her over at school. Christine chased after him, and in front of all his friends, gave him a lesson he would never forget. From that day on, Dawn never had any more problems, and even as an adult, including during her years as a serving Police Officer, she would warn people about her big sister, Christine.

Christine spent several years in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, learning the hotel business and making lasting memories with her girlfriends. It was during this time that she developed a lifelong love for the Miami Dolphins, a passion that stayed with her throughout her life. Her career in the hotel industry flourished, and she continued her work in San Antonio, Texas, where she served as the Director of Sales and Marketing at several renowned hotels along the Riverwalk. Christine also pursued and excelled in many professions, including real estate, but her greatest calling was being a devoted mother to her three daughters.

In 1996, Christine married her true love, Marvin, who doted on her every chance he could get. They spent the early years of their marriage traveling and building their life together. One of their favorite pastimes was shooting together, an activity that brought them joy and strengthened their bond. They settled in their "forever" home in 2020, spending time with their loyal dog, Bear, who never left her side. Christine became a grandmother, and her daughter Alia moved next door to her. Christine cherished her three grandbabies deeply. She was often caught red-handed showering them with treats, and when scolded by her daughters, she would respond in her defense, "There are NO rules at MiMi's house!" Christine always looked fabulous and never stepped out of the house without her "lippy." She had a natural talent for creating beauty in her home and enjoyed hosting holiday dinners for family and friends. Her favorite time of year was Christmas; she delighted in making every corner of the house feel magical.

Christine is survived by her husband, Marvin Alexander Mitchell III; her three daughters, Alia Blankenship, Sarah Carr, and Dominique Lopez; sons-in-law Brian, Richard, and Jose; grandchildren Aubrie, Eli, and Owen; her sisters Janet and Dawn; her nieces Lisa and Samantha; and her great-nieces and nephews Bella, George, Daniel, and Alfie. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Elizabeth "Betty" Angwin, and her cousin Mark.

Living in Texas, Christine was often asked where she was from because of her enchanting English accent. But it was her charm and sharp wit that were most captivating. Christine will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. The void left by her absence will be filled with the cherished memories of the time we shared together.

We love you, Mom.
