Charles Bird Upton went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at the age of 84 years. He was born in Austin, Texas on September 15, 1930 to James Bird and May Bell Cantrell Upton. Charles enjoyed traveling, rock collecting, and wood working. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Barr and his brother, J. Ernest Upton. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Louree Upton; children, Malcolm Upton and wife Deborah, Oren Upton and wife Mikyong, Dwight Upton and wife Brandy, Katina Duprey and husband Daniel, and Elizabeth Stephen; sister, Joan Upton Hall; brother, Robert J. Upton and wife Ingrid; grandchildren, Isaac, Lincoln, Rowan, Aurora, Briar, Evan, Ariel, Finn, Riley, Hannah, and Leah; also numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held at Southside Funeral Home on Saturday, July 25th at 2:00 p.m., with visitation beginning at 1:30 p.m.
