Augustin C. Valdez entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at the age of 71 years. He was born in San Antonio, on January 27, 1949 to Rosendo and Celia Cardenas Valdez.  Augustin enjoyed traveling, gambling and cooking.  Most of all, he loved being a bus driver for South West Independent School District.  Augustin was preceded in death by his son, Augustin Valdez Jr.; father, Rosendo Valdez; mother, Celia Hernandez; stepfather, Felix Hernandez; brothers and sisters, Rosendo Valdez, Joey Valdez, Raul Valdez, Jimmy Valdez, Estella Vega, Consuelo Zapata, Andy Hernandez. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Debra Valdez; children, Estella Valdez, Anthony Valdez, Rosendo Valdez (Crystal), Amanda Moreno (Jaime), Melodie Montgomery (David), Joel Valdez; nineteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Santa Gonzales (Richard), Yolanda Luna, Felix Hernandez Jr., Armando Hernandez (Raquel); sister-in-law, Mary Lou Valdez; also numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.  Visitation will be held at Southside Funeral Home on   Wednesday, February 3 ^rd from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 4th at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m..  Interment will follow at San Jose Burial Park.  For those who are not able to attend the Rosary, it will be lived streamed on Facebook.  Due to COVID-19 restrictions, only the immediate family will be allowed at the church.  Feel free to attend the burial services at 11:00 a.m.  To leave personal condolences for the family, please visit www.southsidefuneralhome .
