Obituary

Angelina Solis Rosas Allen (Angie), 73, of San Antonio, TX passed away peacefully in her sleep at home, on February 19, 2021.

Angie was born January 24, 1948, in San Antonio, the daughter of Gilberto Rosas and Carmen (Solis) Rosas. As a child, Angie studied classical piano, performed numerous recitals and continued to play well into adulthood. Angie was a graduate of Our Lady of the Lake High school, class of 1966. Upon graduation, Angie attended both San Antonio College and Southwest Texas State University. While in college, she became a member of the diving and synchronized swimming teams. In 1968 she traveled with her team to Mexico City to perform in an exhibition before the Olympic committee in an effort to have synchronized swimming recognized as an official Olympic event.

A long-time employee of Friedrich Air Conditioning, Angie assisted in the fabrication of the penguin habitat at Sea World San Antonio. This was one of many career defining accomplishments. After leaving Friedrich Air Conditioning for Trinity Industries, she remained in the male dominated steel industry working as a Numerical Control Programmer where she assisted in the fabrication of earth mining equipment. Angie remained at Trinity Industries until retirement.

Angie's love for classical music and of the San Antonio Symphony brought sophistication and an appreciation of music into our home. She was an accomplished seamstress committing hours of tedious work to sew the perfect garment for a special occasion. Of all her skills and talents cooking was not one, her motto was "I throw it all in one pot and hope for the best. Our family has had countless lopsided birthday cakes throughout the years, but she would always sneak us an extra spatula of frosting on our special day.

Angie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a tiny package of a woman that was a force to be reckoned with. She was fiercely independent yet loyal and devoted to her family and friends. If she did something for you it was from her heart and with love - she was a silent and humble observer that never asked for or sought recognition for her actions. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.

Angie is preceded in death by her parents Gilberto Rosas and Carmen Solis Rosas, husband Gayle Lee Allen and son Clifford "Dooner" Gilbert Allen. She is survived by her daughters Amy Hallisey and her husband Daniel of Panama City Beach, FL; Ramona Allen Huth and her husband Colby, of San Antonio, TX; daughter-in-law, Vickie Allen, five grandchildren, Marcos Hernandez, Daniel Allen, Christopher Allen, Hunter Allen and Caleb Huth; three great-grandchildren, Bradlee Allen, Addison Allen and Jake Allen; one sister, Irene Rosas, of San Angelo, Texas; niece, Liz Garcia-Birdwell and nephew, Ritchie Garcia, of San Angelo, Texas.
