Obituary

Adam Ignacio Garza, born on January 25, 1970, was called home to be with the Lord on October 31, 2025. Known for his booming, infectious laughter, Adam had a presence that left a lasting impression on those around him. He is survived by his sons, Adam Ignacio Garza, Jr. and wife Erica Garza, Andrew Jacob Garza and wife Jeanette Garza; his daughter, Ashly Marie Garza; his brother, Adrian I. Garza; his sister, Ana I. Gonzales; his beloved grandchildren: Daniel, Mia, Avery, Abram, Kayla, Amber; his beloved great-grandchildren: Luis, Kacey, Karter; and well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Juanita R. Garza and Jose I. Garza.

For over a decade, Adam walked beside his father, Jose I. Garza, as his devoted caregiver—an act of love that spoke louder than words. His quiet strength and unwavering presence brought comfort and dignity to his father's final years. In every gesture, Adam exemplified selfless care and devotion to his father.

Adam dedicated the majority of his career to serving as a Correctional Officer with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, a role he carried out with deep pride and commitment. He was known for sharing stories from his time working at the prison units that would often make you laugh, but he never lost sight of the seriousness of the job or care it required. Beyond his professional life, Adam was involved in Catholic Youth Organization (CYO), first as a longtime player and later as a volunteer coach in both soccer and basketball. Soccer was a lifelong passion for Adam, and he found joy in supporting and guiding his children and grandchildren from the sidelines, attending countless games rain or shine over many many years.

In his later years, Adam found deep fulfillment as a passionate dog rescuer. His deep compassion for dogs was a trait passed down from his mother, Janie R. Garza. Known for her generous spirit, Janie often welcomed stray dogs from the neighborhood into her home, caring for them as if they were family. Adam followed in her footsteps and was a full-time caretaker to his beloved dogs, always placing their well-being above his own. His steadfast commitment reflected a profound sense of love and responsibility, and he found joy and purpose in their companionship. His legacy lives on in the lives of the animals he nurtured. Adam is also survived by his cherished dogs: Mama, Ruca, Wiggy, Sancho, and Apollo. He was preceded in death by his beloved dogs: Luna, Zoe, and Swifty.

Adam will be deeply missed. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to God's Dog Rescue (https://godsdogsrescue.org) in honor of Adam's lifelong devotion to animals.
